The much-awaited Kannada trailer for Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana has arrived, and it sets the stage for one of the most ambitious cinematic retellings of India’s greatest epic. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release during Diwali 2026, with a grand IMAX presentation and VFX by the eight-time Academy Award-winning studio DNEG.
A Clash of Two Paths
The trailer opens with power and intensity. Ravana (Yash) asserts his claim as the ultimate ruler of the heavens, earth, and netherworld. In response comes the divine truth: whenever the universe faces a severe threat, Lord Vishnu takes an avatar to protect it. That avatar is Ram (Ranbir Kapoor).
We witness the emotional weight of duty as Ram accepts fourteen years of exile to honour his father’s word. Sita (Sai Pallavi) stands by him with quiet strength, affirming that their fates are forever intertwined. The narrative then turns darker with Surpanakha’s humiliation and Ravana’s vow of agonizing revenge and humiliation. Ram’s resolve is clear: “I will bring back my Sita.”
